Advanced Technology Center

The Advanced Technology Center is a facility of Linn State Technical College and Moberly Area Community College in cooperation with the City of Mexico and the University of Missouri Outreach and Extension.

In May 1995, petitions and feasibility studies began in an effort to provide mid-Missouri with an alternative to a four-year college that would also provide training to local employees.  With the support of local legislators, the project was approved.  On May 13, 1996, as press conference was held; it was announced that a $4.3 million facility was to be built, with $2.25 million coming from Missouri Lottery money.  The rest of the money was raised from local donations, state enhancement grants, and a $1 million federal  appropriation.  That August, Moberly Area Community College, Linn State Technical College, and the City of Mexico formed a consortium to run the school.

Classes began in 1997 in rented facilties.  In May of 1999, the ATC moved into its 40,000 square foot facility, where it was joined by the University of Missouri Outreach and Extension's Telecommunication Community Resource Center. The campus is currently undergoing an expansion that will double the size of the school.

The Advanced Technology Center currently offers Associate degrees in Nuclear Technology, Integrated Manufacturing Technology, Laser/Photonics Technology, Computer Information Systems, and Early Childhood, plus an Associate of Arts Transfer Degree. Continuing Education and Certificate Programs are also available in Practical Nursing and ten other fields.
