Progress Mexico

Progress Mexico membership financially supports Mexico’s economic development as a partner with the Chamber of Commerce and City of Mexico. The group is guided by an Administrative Committee of representatives from the Membership (3), Chamber of Commerce (3), City of Mexico (2), and Audrain County Commissioners (1). Progress Mexico is chaired by the VP - Economic Development of the Chamber of Commerce and the Annual Membership Meeting is held each December. The year’s accomplishments are reviewed at the annual meeting held each December.

Dues for Progress Mexico are $250 per year. The sole source of income is membership dues and the following economic development projects (and others) will need financial assistance in many different ways this year.

• C.O.R.E. (Connecting Our Reginal Economy), a new regional economic development organization for 12 central Missouri counties, has hired an Executive Director who visited Mexico in July. A database of industrial and commercial sites is being built for the region including all facilities available in Mexico.

• Mexico was selected as a DREAM (Downtown Revitalization and Economic Assistance for Missouri) community by the State in 2007. This work continues using architects and community surveys to build a revitalization plan for downtown Mexico.

• Progress Mexico supports the Missouri Department of Transportation (MODOT) by hosting regional informational and planning meetings and with recognition of its efforts to improve highway access to and through Mexico. Transportation needs and improvements remain a priority for Mexico's economic development.

• The new and exciting Missouri Plant Science Center's previous Announcement and Ground Breaking ceremonies were financially supported. Additional new economic development projects including the Mid-America Brick facility will also be supported by Progress Mexico.
